    Friday

    Un-justice Court

    Arrest warrants are prepared to arrest many Gridley City Politicians, business people, local dignitaries, and community folk. But of course it’s all in fun! InmatesRe incarcerated at the Chamber detention facility, undergo four-star prison rations and will not be released until they have raised bail in the form of donations.

    ‘Guns v. Hoses’

    The annual softball game between the Gridley police (guns) department and the Gridley firefighter (hoses) department is held at the Little League ball field in Vierra Park on Friday night before Red Suspenders Day each year. This is a great game of softball, fun and laughter. We invite the community to join us in watching, cheering or booing your favorite team.

    Saturday

    Little League Pancake Breakfast

    A tradition from the very first Red Suspenders Day event, Gridleystarts the day with the Little League pancake breakfast in the park before the parade.

    Bed Races

    The ‘Bed Races’ are as much fun to watch as to race in. Teams of four, representing clubs and businesses race down Virginia Street to compete for first place. Three members of the team push, while one member rides. In mid race, riders must switch off and change their nightclothes and then continue on to the finish line. Along with awards for the fastest Bed Race teams a special award will be given for the ‘Most Beautiful Bed’.

    Parade

    This is one of the best Parades in Northern California with entries of firefighter’s equipment along with school bands, horses, antique cars, floats, novelty and individual entries, and a flyover at the beginning of the parade by helicopters. Many awards, plaques and trophies are given for the entries.

    Car Show

    Beautiful cars line the streets in this fun annual event. There are lots of classics and other fantastic cars featured in the parade as well.

    Vendors & Sidewalk Sales

    Thereare food booths for your enjoyment with a variety of food. Arts and Craft vendors showcase their special variety of items. Local merchants hold sidewalk sales. There is something for everyone at the Gridley Red Suspenders Day.

    Children's Park

    A special part of Rotary Park is devoted to petting zoo, pony rides, jump house, face painting, dunking booth, and search & rescue for the younger children.

    Firemen's Games

    The fire department holds water games after the parade on the East side of Rotary Park located on Washington Street. Come get wet and enjoy the exciting show.

    Pinewood Derby & Trike Races

    The Gridley Recreation Department sponsors Pinewood Derby and child and adult trike races after the Firemen's Games.

    Kaleidoscope Talent Show

    The community ends the night with a talent show sponsored by Kaleidoscope. Come see Gridley's amazing talented youth, teens and adults.
